TikToker Dylan Mulvaney nods to her Bud Light controversy in Streamys award speech

Actress and TikToker, Dylan Mulvaney, won big at the 13th annual Streamy Awards last night, taking home the ‘Breakout Creator’ award. The Streamys honours the best in online video content.

During her acceptance speech, Mulvaney used the opportunity to speak on her experiences as a trans woman.

“My life has been changed for the better,” Mulvaney told the crowd. “But on the flip side, there’s also been an extreme amount of transphobia and hate, and I know that my community is feeling it, and I know that even our allies are feeling it.”

Addressing her fellow content creators, she said: “I look around this room and I see so many amazing allies that have platforms. I think allyship right now needs to look differently. You need to support trans people publicly and proudly”

“The trans community and the creator community actually have something in common and it’s that people often underestimate us. I know that we can stay optimistic about the future of transness in general because if we can influence people to buy $22 Erewhon smoothies we can also do this.”

“I’m going to go have a beer.” Were Muvaney’s final words before she exited the stage, a nod to her recent Bud Light controversy.
